JOB SUMMARY 
The Information Technology GIS Analyst I is an entry-level position that supports the organization’s Geographic Information System (GIS) and information technology operations. Under established guidelines and close supervision, this position develops practical experience in GIS technology, spatial data management, mapping, technical support, and data analysis. 

The Information Technology Analyst I will assist with maintaining accurate and reliable GIS information, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, responding to technical questions, and creating maps, reports, and other visual products that help users understand and utilize geographic information. The position may also contribute to project teams, gaining exposure to GIS applications, data processing workflows, and technology-driven solutions to organizational needs. 

What You’ll Do 

  • Provide technology and GIS support by troubleshooting hardware, software, GIS applications, and related technical issues; responds to customer questions and assists users in identifying practical solutions to technology and GIS-related needs. 
  • Contribute to GIS and technology projects by participating as a member of project teams, assisting with assigned tasks, coordinating project activities, and gaining hands-on experience with organizational GIS initiatives and technology solutions. 
  • Maintains and enhances GIS data by entering, updating, organizing, validating, and processing spatial and attribute information to support the accuracy, integrity, and usability of GIS databases and applications. 
  • Assists with GIS data processing and quality control by reviewing information for completeness and accuracy, identifying potential discrepancies, and supporting established procedures for maintaining reliable geographic data. 
  • Performs research and related technical tasks as assigned, helping to gather, organize, interpret, and present geographic and technology-related information in support of departmental operations.

Schedule: 44/36. Start times are no earlier than 6 am and end times are no later than 6 pm. 

Hybrid: Metropolitan’s current practice in this position is a hybrid work schedule. This typically includes two days a week in person and the other days remote. This is subject to change dependent on organizational needs. In addition, a telework policy is scheduled for negotiations and once completed and implemented, will provide final direction on the hybrid schedule.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field.

A degree in a related field is defined as: GIS, Geography, Computer Science, or other related Information Technology degree.
