As an Assistant Engineer II on the Supply Acquisition Team your primary focus will be assisting with the implementation of local resources program development, water supply purchases, storage programs, and water exchanges. You will be involved in many facets of water resource management including, but not limited to, assisting with: water resource planning, contract negotiations, cost estimates, cost assessments and reconciliations, maintaining program data, report preparations, invoices, and supporting the team in developing new programs.

 

Your work experience with a variety of water resources, ability to effectively communicate and interact

with others, and competence with Microsoft Excel will be critical to your success in this position.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Assist With Documentation Strategy: assist with documentation planning by analyzing customer needs, coordinating project timelines, and managing complex schedules to ensure mission-critical information is delivered on time.
  • Assist With Producing High-Impact Content: Assist with developing and evaluating a wide range of materials including policy principles, contracts, and technical reports, ensuring everything meets rigorous regulatory and internal standards.
  • Visualize Complex Data: Assist with designing and developing technical presentation materials, flowcharts, and graphics, incorporating multimedia elements like photography and video to enhance comprehension.
  • Assist With Ensuring Precision and Accountability: Assist with performing meticulous data review for completeness and accuracy. Assist with developing and managing program budgets, while tracking performance and reconciling costs.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Contributes on project teams, assists with cross-functional initiatives that support Metropolitan’s mission.

Schedule: 9/80, Monday through Friday, every other Friday Off.

 

Hybrid: Metropolitan’s current practice in this position is a hybrid work schedule. This typically includes two days a week in person and the other days remote. This is subject to change dependent on organizational needs. In addition, a telework policy is scheduled for negotiations and once completed and implemented, will provide final direction on the hybrid schedule.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and two years of relevant experience, of which two years must have been at the Assistant Engineer I level.

 

Relevant Experience is defined as: working experience with water resources (groundwater, hydrology, hydraulics and water treatment processes, etc).

 


CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
License(s): Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
