Metropolitan is seeking a Fleet Coordinator to work closely with the Fleet Unit Manager, staff, and stakeholders across the organization. Metropolitan manages over 1,400 vehicles and 502 facility assets—including sedans, trucks, cranes, forklifts, trailers, construction equipment, pumps, and generators—across twelve Southern California locations.

 

This role applies fleet management knowledge, regulatory knowledge, and equipment experience to maintain accurate records, analyze data, and prepare reports. The Fleet Coordinator supports staff and stakeholders through training, guidance, and assessment of assets to recommend replacements or surplus options, while introducing innovative solutions to improve operations.

 

Key functions include coordinating the annual Operating Equipment review, supporting vehicle specifications and in-service processes, maintaining computerized maintenance records, administering driver evaluations, and delivering safety and maintenance training. The role also involves auditing maintenance programs, consulting on repairs and spare parts, conducting site visits for compliance, and collaborating with managers and technicians to track preventive maintenance, fleet financials, warranties, recalls, and safety compliance.

Schedule: 4/10 schedule (Monday – Thursday, 6:00AM – 4:30PM)

 

Hybrid: Metropolitan’s current practice in this position is a hybrid work schedule. This typically includes two days a week in person and the other days remote. This is subject to change dependent on organizational needs. In addition, a telework policy is scheduled for negotiations and once completed and implemented, will provide final direction on the hybrid schedule.

 


EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:  Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and four years of relevant experience.

 

Relevant experience is defined as: a combination of experience with fleet maintenance, equipment utilization, dispatching, acquisition, and salvaging of light and heavy equipment. Knowledge of CMMS tools such as (Maximo, FleetIO, AssetWorks) for scheduling, tracking, and optimizing fleet performance.

 

 

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
License(s): 

  • Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
  • May require a Class A Drivers License for testing of equipment
