In this role on the Colorado River Aqueduct Program Management (PM) Team, you will be responsible for managing multiple capital and/or Operations & Maintenance (O&M) projects; providing project management expertise on engineering projects; and ensuring that engineering service meets Metropolitan’s standards of quality, efficiency, and technical integrity.

As the Engineer on the project management team, you will use your skills to lead project teams in addressing day-to-day management of all project activities, assist/lead the preparation of project proposals, or direct planning and scoping studies associated with the delivery of capital infrastructure projects. Activities could include obtaining project funding and authorization through the Board letter/Board presentation process as well as monitoring and controlling project scope, progress, schedules, and budgets while working with Water System Operations (WSO) and Water Resources Management (WRM). You will identify/coordinate environmental assessments and documentation; prepare reports; utilize standard Metropolitan software applications – Microsoft Office suite and Microsoft Project; provide regular input and updates to the Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) system; and perform other initiatives related to project management or new project evaluations, as needed.

Schedule: 9/80, Monday through Friday, Every other Friday off; or 4/10 four (4) consecutive ten-hour days, Monday through Thursday

 

Location: Gene Pumping Plant

 

This position is eligible to rent Metropolitan Water District housing.

 

The Incentive Pay program will be setup to provide a Desert Branch Assignment Premium to qualifying employees as follows:
5% for all employees assigned to Gene Camp or Intake.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and six years of relevant experience, of which two years must have been at the Associate Engineer level; OR Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and four years of relevant experience, of which two years must have been at the Associate Engineer level.

 

Relevant Experience is defined as: experience managing capital projects, leading multidiscipline project teams, preparation of technical reports and correspondence, experience in design, construction, or project management with facility upgrades, repairs, and rehabilitations.

 

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
License(s):
• Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
• License in good standing as a California Professional Engineer
