In this role, you will work with the Ethics Officer in developing and implementing the goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for Metropolitan Water District’s (MWD) Ethics Investigation Program. In addition, you will work closely with an Assistant Ethics Officer, Deputy Ethics Officer, and staff to participate in investigations of complaints of alleged misconduct and ethics policy violations; review and evaluate existing and proposed policies and programs; research external trends in the development of government laws, internal policies, and procedures for performing professional ethics and oversight functions; prepare a variety of statistical and narrative reports as may be required for government reporting and internal monitoring of the progress of various Ethics Office efforts and programs; collect, analyze, and interpret data related to various employment activities; and assess procedural factors such as due process protections, confidentiality of information, and protection of sources.

 

Schedule: 44/36, Monday through Friday /Every other Friday off. Monday through Thursday 9 hours per day, 8 hours per day every other Friday.

 

Hybrid: Metropolitan’s current practice in this position is a hybrid work schedule. This typically includes two days a week in person and the other days remote. This is subject to change dependent on organizational needs. In addition, a telework policy is scheduled for negotiations and once completed and implemented, will provide final direction on the hybrid schedule.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field, and six years of relevant experience; or three years as a MWD Analyst III level with relevant experience field.

 

Relevant Experience is defined as: Government investigative experience, internal personnel investigations, and/or workplace investigative experience. In-depth knowledge of laws, regulations, policies, and systems related to the integrity and oversight of government programs and operations.

 

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

Investigative experience in government (local, state and/or federal) organizations. Experience conducting ethics investigations and/or internal personnel investigations of policy or law violations. Formally trained at a government academy or government training program in conducting interviews, obtaining evidence, and investigative procedures

 

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
