The Associate Chemist position is an intermediate level position located at the Skinner Treatment Plant laboratory in Winchester, California. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with drinking water regulations, supporting treatment plant operations, performing routine compliance and non-compliance water quality analyses (e.g., sampling and analyzing chemistry and microbiology samples), and performing job duties that will ensure the treatment plant laboratory is in compliance with the Division of Drinking Water's Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program requirements.

 

This position will work independently under the direct supervision of the Treatment Plant Laboratory Team Manager and maintain close working relationships with personnel in Water Treatment and Water Quality sections.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: 

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and two years of relevant experience.

 

Related field is defined as: Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Environmental Science.

 

Relevant Experience is defined as: chemistry and microbiology laboratory techniques and instrumentation; standard laboratory quality assurance and control requirements, including laboratory safety protocols.

 

 

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
License(s): Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
