  • As a part of the Construction Contracts Team, this Engineer position will be responsible for developing construction contracts and supporting management of Metropolitan’s capital construction contracts. 

     

    In this position, you will develop construction contracts; oversee specification development and coordinate with Metropolitan’s Design Team to produce bid documents; provide technical expertise within area of responsibility on construction projects; lead and perform technical analyses and provide recommendations on construction issues; lead, prepare and review specifications, submittals, cost estimates, and budgets; lead and develop standards, procedures, guidelines and manuals; and maintain official records, documents and data.  You may also administer construction contracts; execute change orders, progress payments, and assess contractor claims and disputes; execute mathematical, statistical, and other models; and perform site and construction inspections.

    EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and six years of relevant experience, of which two years must have been at the Associate Engineer level; OR Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and four years of relevant experience, of which two years must have been at the Associate Engineer level. 

     

    Relevant Experience is defined as: Experience in, and general understanding of Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) standards; development of public works contracts and specifications, construction means and methods, public contracting law, budgeting, scheduling, estimating, and risk management.  Experience with developing contract documents and specifications for various disciplines within an engineering construction contract. 

     

    CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
    License(s):

    - Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.

    License in good standing as a California Professional Engineer (required at time of application).
